ABOUT THE ACADEMY |
|
For The Love Of The Game Ringette Academy is in its 4th season! The program was developed by myself, Jodie Tessier, through my philosophy of learning through fun. Athletes that are having fun in their sport work harder, are more engaged, excel and stay in the sport longer. Ringette is a sport played purely For The Love Of The Game. There aren't any NHL contracts or Olympic dreams, but there are friendships and fitness that will last a lifetime.
Jodie has played hockey/ringette for 30 years and was part of the first U18 Canada Winter Games girls hockey program. Jodie was Head Ringette Instructor for Canlan Ice Sports, a Sherwood Park ringette coach, the 2010 Sherwood Park Novice Select B Head Coach, the 2011 Novice Select A Assistant Coach and Director of Development for Ringette Alberta. I currently play for a Women's Rec A hockey team and an Open ringette team, as well, both my daughters play ringette. Having grown up in a small town and spent winters on the outdoor rinks or playing street hockey, |
I grew up playing For The Love Of The Game and enjoy passing my passion for the game onto young players so they play ringette for all the right reasons. Did you know? The ages of 9-12 are the most important for skill acquisition. Poor training between 6-16 years of age cannot be fully corrected (athletes will never reach genetic potential). It takes 10,000 hours or 10,000 repetitions to master a skill! Skating year round makes a tremendous difference in skill development and advancement. The program includes playing to music, individualized attention and Heart & Hustle daily awards. We hope your child will have an experience they will never forget and complete the program with improved skills and skating...and a true love of the game. |
